DNET Backup Privacy Policy
Effective 31 October 2026. This policy describes the owner-operated DNET Backup utility and its use of Google Drive.
1. Scope and access
DNET Backup uses the Google Drive API with https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file to work with backup files created or opened using this application. The utility does not request full, unrestricted access to all existing Google Drive files.
2. Data processed and why
With owner authorization, the utility can create, upload, list, read, compare, and recover owner-selected backup files and their file metadata. The purpose is encrypted backup, integrity verification, and recovery. The currently tested workflow uploads Restic-encrypted repository content and an encrypted recovery capsule with limited, non-secret mapping metadata.
3. Storage and protection
Backup data is encrypted before uploading to the authorized Google Drive account. OAuth tokens are stored locally in the owner-controlled rclone configuration, not on this website. Private recovery keys and unlock secrets are not uploaded by the backup transfer workflow. The owner remains responsible for protecting local credentials and independent recovery material.
4. Sharing and third parties
Backup content is transmitted to and stored in the Google Drive account selected by the owner, subject to Google policies. It is not sold or shared for advertising. This informational website uses Cloudflare to deliver static pages; Cloudflare may process standard network request information under its own privacy practices. The website does not embed analytics, advertising trackers or third-party scripts.
5. Retention and deletion
Backup files remain in the authorized Google Drive account until the owner removes them or applies an approved retention process. The owner can delete backup files in Google Drive and revoke DNET Backup access from Google Account settings. Local OAuth credentials can be removed from the owner device. Google Drive trash and retention policies may apply.
6. Your control and questions
Authorization is voluntary and can be revoked through Google Account third-party connections. For access, deletion, or policy questions, contact the owner using the support email identified on the DNET Backup Google OAuth consent screen. There is no public user-registration process.
7. Policy changes
This page may be updated if permissions, storage locations or data-processing practices change. Changes will be reflected here with an updated effective date.
